Match Reports - U13:

Under 13's v Horden

Fell Under 13's Continue Good Form

The Fell 13's had Horden as their visitors in the most recent match.

Looking to continue good recent form, the Fell bowled first and soon had the visitors on the rack. The lack of depth in the Horden team was exposed by the Fell bowling as 13 Horden wickets were taken.

Michael Elliott 4-1-3-5
Chris Dodds 2-2-1-0
Stuart Gray 1-1-2-0
Stephen Peacock 1-1-2-0

The Fell batted sensibly and in their innings lost only 3 wickets. David Daley (again), Drew White and Michael Elliott all getting out.

But they scored well and made a comfortable 103 runs in total with Chris Dodds 18 not out and Sam Roseby 21 not out.

Rearranged games are coming up against top teams Durham Cityand Philadelphia. They will be a much better test of how much the team has developed this year.

Under 13's v Hetton Lyons

Fell 13's Power Past Hetton

The Fell Under 13's showed great form on their recent trip to Hetton Lyons. With a near full strength team on duty the Fell contained Hetton to 67 for 9 wickets. Captain David Daley even had the luxury of giving all the team 2 overs bowling each. Everyone bowled with credit.

The Fell fielding was of a very good standard and reflects some of the hard work done recently.

The Fell carried their good work into the batting scoring 121 for the loss of only 1 wicket - captain Daley, clean bowled!!

The task for this team is to carry this form to the end of the season with games against the top teams still to come.

Under 13's v Whitburn

Wickets Galore for Under 13's

The Fell 13's travelled to Whitburn on a dismal morning, but the rain held off enough for the game to be played.

The Fell batted first. Skipper David Daley was in top form scoring 27 not out with two 6's. He was well supported by other batters with Jack Doherty making 18 not out. The Fell scored 104 for 5 wickets.

During the Whitburn innings it was wickets galore. Whitburn scored 88 runs but lost a total of 17 wickets in the process. Callum Fairbairn had bowling figures of 3-1-8-5. This included 4 wickets in one over.

All round an easy win for the Fell 13's

Under 13's v Burnmoor

An Improved Performance Gives Fell the Win

The Fell Under 13's got back into winning form with a much improved performance at home to Burnmoor.

Batting first the Fell showed the type of form coach Bryan Arkle had been looking for. In the 20 overs they lost only 1 wicket and scored 111 in the process.

Chris Dodds 17, David Daley 23, Sam Roseby 19 and Jack Doherty 14 all scored well for the Fell.

The Fell bowling was also on target, taking 9 wickets in the Burnmoor score of 92. Chris Dodds was top bowler with 3 for 6 in his two overs.

A good all round performance.

Under 13's Slump to Another Defeat

Coach Bryan Arkle gave debuts to some of the fringe players in the Under 13's game at home to Sunderland.

Winning the toss and deciding to bowl first, the Fell started brightly with some good fielding and a good defensive field set by stand in captain Michael Elliott. Sunderland lost wickets early on, but still managed to score runs at a good rate. The later batsmen hit the ball well to give them a final total of 103 for 6 wickets.

Best fell bowling was from Stuart Gray who took 1 for 1 in his 2 overs.

The Fell batting followed the same pattern as the previous week. Too many wickets lost and not enough runs scored. Sam Roseby did his best with 16 not out in the last pair but it was not enough as the Fell ended up scoring 86 for the loss of 5 wickets.

Under 13's Beached by South Shields

The Fell travelled to South Shields hoping to extend their good start to the season. A strong Fell team was selected to match the strong South Shields youth squad.

Batting first, the Fell boys let themselves down with an ineffective display against some accurate Shields bowling.
After 20 overs they scored only a measly 44 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Only Michael Elliott showed any resistance scoring 11 not out.

South Shields, knowing that the game was there to be won, applied themselves correctly and totalled 66 for the loss of 5 wickets.

An easy win for South Shields - not a happy day at the seaside for Gateshead.

Under 13's v Seaham Harbour

'Super Stu Smashes Seaham'

A fantastic spell of bowling by the Fell's Stuart Gray gave the Under 13's an easy win in the first game of the season at Seaham Harbour. Stuarts bowling figures were - 2 overs, 1 maiden, 5 wickets for only 6 runs. All the wickets were out clean bowled as the Seaham batters struggle to contend with the accuracy of the bowling.

The Fell bowlers were accurate throughout the innings and restricted Seaham to 63 runs for the loss of  a massive 12 wickets.

The Fell batting was also considered and responsible. They scored 82 runs for the loss of only 2 wickets. Sam Roseby was the pick of the batters, taking up where he left off at the end of 2007 season scoring 20 not out, including a 6 and 3 x 4's.

All in all, an easy win, but tougher games will be coming up.

Under 13's v South Hetton

Hetton lose out to Fell Under 13's

The Fell Under 13's continued the good start to the season with another emphatic win. This time South Hetton were the victims of another good all-round Fell performance.

Batting first, a young Hetton side found the consistent Fell bowling too strong for them. Hetton struggled to 60 runs for the loss of 11 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Michael Elliott was chief wicket taker, with 3 for 2 in only two overs.

Hetton's bowling fared no better - the Fell batters smashed 158 for the loss of 6 wickets. Captain David Daley scored 28 not out and Sam Roseby 38 not out.

A difficult game for Hetton, but well done to them for sticking the game out and well done to their manager Jim, for encouraging them to keep going.

Match Reports - U15:

Under 15's v Sunderland

Fell Come a Poor Second

Earlier in the season the Fell beat Sunderland in a thrilling game to record their only win of the season (so far)

It was not to be on this occasion though as Sunderland showed good form to beat the Fell easily.

Sunderland 101 for 8 wickets. The Fell 48 for 5.

This team looks like having the dubious honour of being the worst in the new league set up, with one game to go and no wins so far.

Still, nearly the football season......

Under 15's v Whitburn

After several attempts to play this 'Glen Robinson Memorial Trophy' game were lost to the weather, the Fell and Whitburn eventually got the game played.

Whitburn scored 126 for 4
The Fell 80 for 2

The last chance of any success for this team were lost as they were generally outplayed by Whitburn. Highlight for the Fell, Matty Ridley scored 20 not out and batted for most of the 20 overs.

Under 15's v Silksworth

Fell 15's Win The Game For Silksworth

A classic case of how to lose a game you should win easily, as the Fell 15's started the second half of their league programme in Division 3 North of the new regional league system.

Chasing a score of 71, The  Fell were 59 for 2 with four overs to go and Michael Dicks in good form on 35 not out.

What followed was little short of 'comedy cricket'....

Matty Ridley, batting well had to go off because he was feeling ill. This brought a new batter David Daley, to the crease at a critical time.

New batter swishes and misses a few. No problem Dicks should still get them.........

Daley and Dicks run into each other going for a quick single. Dicks ends up prone on the wicket - run out.

Tauseef comes in. New batter swishes and misses a few.

Another wicket. New batter swishes and misses a few.

One over to go, 63 for 4. Unfortunately batters think two overs to go!!!!!!!!!!

Last over. All credit to the bowler who bowled an excellent over, one run scored. Silksworth win, Fell boys head to dressing room for severe lecture....

Under 15's v Boldon

Fell Lose Out to Boldon

The Under 15's got their season under way with a home game against Boldon.

The weakness of the Fell side was soon exposed as Boldon's competent opening batters made easy work of the Fell Bowling.

After 20 overs they had scored 148 without losing a wicket.

The Fell batting was slow and although they only lost 3 wickets, in their 20 overs they only scored 70 runs, giving Boldon an easy win.

This might be a hard season for this team....

Under 15's v Felling

Felling too Strong for Fell 15's

Playing at home to felling the Fell were asked to bat first. The batting form of the previous week was again exposed as the Fell made 48 for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Under 13, Chris Dodds, opening the batting showed good determination batting a long time for his 10 runs.

Despite an early breakthrough by Under 13 bowler David Daley, Felling knocked the runs off comfortably for the loss of only 2 wickets.

Under 15's v Sunderland

Delight As Fell Make First Win

The fell and Sunderland played out a very exciting game that the Fell just came out on top.

With the last pair at the crease, the Fell needed 14 to win with 2 overs of the game to go. Under 13 players David Daley and Callum French showed great maturity in hitting the bad ball and showing the rest of their team how to run well between the wicket. They managed to hit the winning runs between them with one ball of the game to go. With 9 not out and 8 not out, they both top scored for the Fell in a low scoring game.

Earlier, Daley had bowled a magnificent 3 overs taking a hat-trick to put Sunderland in deep trouble. They recovered slightly, but on a difficult wicket they scored 43 for 7 wickets.

The Fell innings matched the Sunderland one. Wickets going down regularly. Sunderland in pole position until the final pair came together.

Under 15's v South Shields

Fell Under 15's Crash

After the enjoyment of the previous week, the Fell 15's were anihialated by a strong South Shields team. South Shields scored 133 for 3 wickets.

The Fell reply was nothing short of 'feeble'. All out for 12 in 10.4 overs. Eight of the team were out without scoring.

It can't get any worse than this....can it?

Under 15's v Whitburn

Depleted 15's Try Hard

The fell 15's travelled to Whitburn with a depleted team and missing captain and leading player Michael Dicks yet again.

Whitburn batted first and recognising the Fell plight, took the opportunity to mix their batting order up. This did not prevent them from scoring a creditable 126 in their 20 overs. Season newcomer Tauseef showed his best bowling for the Fell with 4 wickets for 10 runs in his 4 overs.

Under 13 Chris Dodds, again ahowed the temprement for the game as he batted most of the way through the Fell innings for 26 runs. Tauseef followed up his bowling by smashing 32 not out.

The Fell ended up with 89 for 7 wickets...this season's highest total so far!!

Under 15's v Marsden

Fell Poor Form Continues

It was more of the same as the Fell travelled to Marsden. 41 for 5 in 20 overs. Gary Graham showing the temprement for the game in this match, batting through the 20 overs for 17 not out.

Marsden scored the necessary runs in short time with 44 for 3 wickets.

No highlights as far as the fell were concerned.
